  1. There are currently 48 monarchs across the globe, Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is the only monarch that is Queen Regent to 16 countries alone. There are only four countries in the world that are run by an absolute monarch, they are Brunei, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Vatican City, while the rest are governed by a constitutional monarchy.
