  1. All I can think of is China.

  2. I would absolutely definitely say it is China. China is in all sports in this Beijing Olympics Games 2008 as well as being the host nation. For this Beijing Olympics Games 2008 in joint second place in the number events that a nation is taking part. I would say it is the USA and Russia. In third place I would say it is Australia and Great Britain. In fourth place I would say it is Germany and in fifth place I would say it is Canada. In sixth place I would say it is Brazil.

This is a crystal clear historical statistical question in the making!!!!! First question we all need to ask is... how many Olympics Games events are there in total?  Once we know that and then we can add up the total amount for each country participating in various events. Then we know the ratio for each country. Second question we need to ask is why countries only enter into these sports but no other sporting events? Is it the sport they have the best chance of winning, is a question of money, is it the only sport they know in their country, is it they have not qualified for that sporting events, is it cultural reasonings, is it political, is it social, is it physical, is it indirect prejudice, is it a question of top facilities and world class facilities and others.

For example I totally agree that the African Nations have not enter any athletes in Gymnastics, Sailing events, Cycling events, Rowing events and even the basic Swimming events. Maybe they do not have the top Sporting Facilities and top World Class Trainers to train them all. Is it basically the question about money and proper facilities. I would like to see many countries throughout the world to participate in many events in the future Olympic Games yet to come.

By checking the schedules section of the Beijing Olympics Games 2008, I can calculate in total - there are 302 Gold medals to be won in other words there are 302 events in total. As well as there are only 38 Olympics Games Sporting categories of which 302 Gold medals can be won.

There are 47 events in Athletics. There are 34 events in Swimming. There are 18 events in Wrestling. There are 15 events in Weightlifting. There are 15 events in Shooting. There are 14 events in Rowing. There are 14 events in Judo. There are 14 events in Gymnastics Artistics. There are 12 events in Canoe/Kayak - Flatwater. There are 11 events in Sailing. There are 11 events in Boxing. There are 10 events in Fencing. There are 10 events in Cycling - Track. There are 8 events in Taekwondo. There are 8 events in Diving.  There are 6 events in Equestrian. There are 5 events in Badminton. There are 4 events in Table Tennis. There are 4 events in Archery. There are 4 events in Cycling - Road. There are 4 events in Canoe/Kayak - Slalom. There are 4 events in Tennis. There are 2 events in Basketball. There are 2 events in Beach Volleyball. There are 2 events in Cycling - BMX. There are 2 events in Cycling - Mountain Bike. There are 2 events in Football (Soccer). There are 2 events in Gymnastic Rhythmic. There are 2 events in Trampoline. There are 2 events in Handball. There are 2 events in Hockey. There are 2 events in Modern Pentathlon. There are 2 events in Synchronized Swimming. There are 2 events in Triathlon. There are 2 events in Volleyball.  There are 2 events in Water Polo. There are 1 event in Baseball. There are 1 event in Softball.

The smaller countries have very small or a tiny chance winning any medal because the large countries like USA, Russia, China, Australia, Canada, Germany, Brazil and Great Britain winning all the Gold medals in the Olympics due to their larger sporting populations and have a wider choice of selection of the sporting population and sporting events. It is really cater for their larger sporting populations and richer countries. The other countries do not have a chance at all and do not cater for sports for the poorer nations. For example the nation of Vietnam which plays the sport of Sepaktakraw and won it in the Asian Games. India another country which has very large population and even bigger than China population now but plays the sports of Kabaddi which was play in the Asian Games and also won it. India is also good in Cricket. Why is it - you do not see any Indian Subcontinent countries winning anything in the world largest sporting event - The Olympics as well as no Indian Subcontinent Asian person achieveing anything in any sporting events. There are many races and there are many ethnic groups or ethnic minorities - African, Afro-Caribbean, Chinese, Arab, South American, Hispanics, Slavs, Europeans, Japanese, Korean and others which are totally succeeding but none at all from the Indian Subcontinent which is absolutely shocking. Something has to be done as soon as possible because it is totally bad for the World Development and the World Civilisation. I feel that the Indian Subcontinent has been left out in all this, maybe isolated from all this and have been neglected totally.

  3. America lol.

  4. The host nation always has to have an athlete participate in each sport.

China or whoever is the host nation might not make it into the finals of each event.  If a nation in Africa gets a bid to host the Olympics they will have to have a gymnastics athlete and they aren't known for having good gymnasts (although it would be nice to see)

  5. At a guess I would say China, USA and Australia only because I can't think of any sports they are not playing in.

I have since looked this up and there are NO countries are competing in all the events.

You can use the following link to see what events each team is competing in, just scroll down the bottom of each page per team

Asphyixate - Feel free to apologise any time as I said I was GUESSING and you and whoever else you quoted are WRONG

  6. Macca - thats coz you are not thinking hard enough. Believe it or - well believe it, there are some track and field events in which there is no Australians at all. We also have no rhythmic gymnasts or handball team

It is with a heavy head I concede we have a whole team in syncronised swimming. =(

Kare bare is correct - the host nation qualifies for every event and thus usually have someone or a team in every event. Usually it is only ever the host nation of the year that fills this category.

Macca: Dude, Where in here did I say that there was a country that had someone in every event?

You specifically stated you couldn't think of any sport Australia wasn't in - I told you three. You may apologise for being a tool that can't handle ever being wrong whenever you feel like it, thanks.

  7. The host country is automatically qualified for all events, but I am not sure if China participates all events.

May be this is one of the reasons why host country always perform better than the time when they are not hosting.

  8. I know this isn't an answer, sorry.  But I found this ? curios.  Is it true that the hosting country really has to have someone perform in all events.  I've never heard that before.

  9. China is the only country represented in all sports

USA doesn't have a team in Men's or Women's Handball

  10. None,  I have seen numerous sports like kayaking and some ironman competitions without chinese, ie events they can't cheat in.
