  3. There are no countries, but a number of countries such as the US and Russia have outposts there.  We basically "carved up" the place for "scientific research."

    No national claims on Antarctica are currently recognised internationally or through the UN.  There is a moriatorium on all claims for the forseeable future.

  6. Eight countries claim parts of Antarctica.  However, they have agreed to suspend their claims and not do anything about it.
