  1. I could only find the origins of Davis and Jaggers,

    Davis Name Meaning and History

    Southern English: patronymic from David.

    Jaggers Name Meaning and History

English (West Yorkshire): variant of Jagger.

I couldn't find any thing on the DeHart surname sorry.

  2. Davis is usually English, dehart could be French, Belgian or English and Jaggers may be English, but it is a variation of a German word (Hunter).

Be careful though, many people Anglicized their names when they came to the U.S.  They either spelled it like sounds in English IE Beaudoin became Boadway and Gagne became Gonyea or they directly translated it IE LaBlanc became "White".

Also I went thought h**l trying to find information on my great great grandfather Lewis Bell, only to find out some 20 years later that most of his records were under Louis LeBel.

A genealogist's joke from years ago went:  At Ellis Island a Polish immigrant came up to the desk and the official asked his name.  The Polish immigrant said "Thomas Polaski", and was pass along through the line.  Next in line was a man from china.  When the customs official asked his name he said "Sam Ching", so the official put down "Thomas Polaski".

  3. Thye sound  Welsh or English.

  4. It seems that these names came from either England, Scotland or Germany . For specifics see links below.
