  1. I did a quick search of genealogy sites, and I found a few records of people by that name filing for naturalization papers.  They were all from Italy.  Hope this helps.

  3. Only a few families came over with that name (many members, but interrelated families according to immigration records). They were originally from Ferrara and Bologna Italy (which are provinces just 50 miles from each other) and a town that looks like Cabalabresa, but the handwriting is hard to make out.

    The town listed in the records of the 10 settling in Massachusetts is  Sant'Agostino, Ferrara. If your family was from Massachusetts, that's likely where they're from. But if they weren't from Massachusetts 100 years ago, they're likely from the town that I'm having a hard time deciphering.
