  1. Costa Rica!

  2. Costa Rica, its one of the richest central american countries, it doesn't have a military. They're biggest sellers in Costa Rica are bananas, coffee and lots of tourism. I visited San Jose and for a central american country it didn't look that different than some parts of the US.

  3. I've been to two countries.  I would say:

    Mexico

    Panama (getting costly)

    Costa Rica (getting costly)

The best living standard for money:  Bolivia

    For quality and security:  Panama.

  4. Costa Rica is on top in most development indicators tracked by international organizations.

They two key reasons for this are:

Due to its political history, Costa Rica has enjoyed a series of democratic - socialist governments that have invested in infrastructure and education (Since 1948).

Costa Rica has no standing army, which means that a lot of the GDP has been re-directed towards the initiaves mentioned above.

As a result, Costa Rican's living standards are quite high for the region and are comparable to some european nations.

Since several of the other Central-American countries have now resolved some of their political problems, we may see some of the others countries start to increase their living standards faster than Costa Rica.  Guatemala, in particular is well position for this.   However it is dificult to ascertain if or how long would it take the other countries to catch up.
