What country will be next to lose independence?

What country (countries) will enter a union, get occupied, or lose independence in any other way?

There is a huge difference between entering into an economic union and the merging of two nations.  My bet is that next big thing we are going to see is the existing continental unions grow to include more smaller nations - especially in Asia.

Canada, United States, Mexico will be next. They have signed the a precursor pact, the SPP, Security and Prosperity Partnership behind closed doors years ago. Europe did a similar thing before they formed the EU. The North American Union will erase all three countries as we know them.

From the looks of it, it looks like Venezuela is slowly but surely turning into a communist country due to Hugo Chavez politics.
