What country would be a good choice to learn Spanish in the Caribbean/Latin America

which of these countries would be the best to learn Spanish:

Puerto Rico

Dominican Republic

Panama

Venezuela

Colombia

Costa Rica

Honduras

Guatemala

If anyone lives in any of these countries and can give me some info

I actually found the Spanish in Panama to be very similar to the Colombian "neutral" accent and they use very little slang in the country even among the locals.  It is a lot safer than Colombia politically as well.     I have been studying Spanish for 7 years and still have to ask Puerto Ricans and Dominicans to repeat things all of the time.  Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala all have fairly neutral accents and I think any of those countries would be suitable to learn the language.  Venezuelans have a lot of slang but the country is vast and I have heard people like it there.  I hate to say it, but I think that Colombia is dangerous.

I learned Spanish in Chile and I don't recommend it.  It took a lot of unlearning.  Cachí?

forget the answers that mention Spain and Columbus unless you plan to converse in Italian/Castillian...Columbus wasn't Spanish!

I don't see anyone traveling to England just to learn English. that first answer was idiotic.

Puerto Rico (I am originally from there)

  Since most of the population is bilingual (or trilingual) and it is a US territory.  That is also where the purest Spanish is taught in high school (besides Spain).  Once you start going to countries in Central America it start to pick up a lot of local differences because of the mixing of indian tounges and the original Spanish language.  South America is even worse.  Remember that Puerto Rico is the second island Columbus discovered and it was under Spain until only ~120 years ago when the US invaded and took over it.

It's not really about the country you choose to learn Spanish. It's about the institution you choose to learn Spanish. Every Spanish-speaking country has it's own distinctive form of talking. They have their own slang. UNAM in Mexico City is considered the mecca of the Latin American universities.

However, if you are looking to live somewhere, and you're going to pick up your Spanish from the general population then you should go to where Spanish originally came from, Spain.

It depends on where you would like to go as well.  First off Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic have a LOT of slang and have pretty much boched the spanish language similar to how we are in the us with english.  So my advice would be to stay inland somewhere because there is a version of the spanish language which is called costena (with the ntilde) which is found on the coasts of many of those countries.  So in my opinion I would go inland colombia or Venezuela.  Those are the most beautiful spanish speakers of all of Latin America in my opinion( I am studying spanish language and literature).

Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic have very marked accents.  Colombia (not the coast which has an accent similar to Panama's) and Costa Rica are reputed to have the most neutral Spanish (meaning closer to Spain).  Guatemala has some very good language schools and they are good values.  I don't know about schools in Honduras.

if you want learn speak spanish the best site is in Bogota i live hear nd i know that in others sites their accent is very different, in Bogota there are not a accent and for this is a city with the world`s best spanish
