What counts as credit for Disneyland Annual Pass Upgrades?

I own a SoCal Disneyland AP. I paid $40 to go on a blockout day last month. Can that $40 be used as credit to upgrade to a Deluxe?

I've heard that it counts and I've heard that it doesn't so can someone give a credible answer, please?

Nope, sorry.  Only items that you purchased on that day you decide to upgrade like an admission ticket, parking ticket or a blockout ticket can be used.

I've heard that as well, but I heard that the parking tickets saved up can be credited for a parking pass. I, too, haven't had a credible answer.
