  1. An alternative is to train to be an ADHD coach. Look up the Net to see one nearest to you. In the meantime, it may be useful to arm yourself with some tips on dealing with ADHD children. You can find it here:

  2. ADHD children are usually placed in special ed under the category OHI (Other Health Impaired). So special edication is what you need if you want to continue as a school teacher.

Online classes are usually less expensive per credit hour.

I really want to applaud you for taking charge here, and looking for information yourself.  That is a wonderful quality to have - and to be so interested in being able to help others.

I am not certain there are specific courses - beyond studying psychology, social work, special education instruction, etc...

Even if there were - you can't teach empathy and understanding.  And from the sounds of it - you already have those qualities.

I would recommend learning as much as you possibly can on a subject.  Grab some books - take in what applies - weed out what doesn't make sense.

Once you have a solid foundation, my advice would be to stick with a few "trusted" sources (be it authors, speakers, topics, etc..) that really line up with your experience and gut instinct.

In my honest opinion, no course can teach you how to deal with these types of children.  It all starts with a desire to help and the ability to understand.

Again - I really applaud you for your efforts!  Your students are lucky to have you.
