I am doing an exchange to England next year (I would be in Grade 11 in Canada) and I was wondering what courses you have to take in that year? And how many courses you take, how many electives, etc. Thanks!

  1. in sixth form (Further Education) there are no mandatory courses.

You get to choose whatever you want!

If you are thinking of taking A-Levels, then you take the 'As' level in the first year, then take the whole 'A level' in the 2nd year.

it is recomended to take 4 'As Levels' but drop 1 for the 2nd year to focus on the remaining 3 subjects.

    Hope that helps!

  2. I'm doing my A-levels now, usually you do 4 subjects of your own choice and then you have to do General Studies. It depends on what school you go to as some make you do Critical thinking instead or some schools let you choose whether you want to do critical thinking or general studies or some schools lets you chose 1 subject out of a choice.

  3. It all depends on where your going for Sixth From really. You are normally expected to take 4 different subject As levels for one year then drop one and continue the next year with 3 of these subjects at A level. Of course that also depends on how long your staying for.

Most places give you a choice of Subjects again depending on the School.. I don't think any are compulsory, well there aren't any that are in my school.

    Hope that helps :)

    Have a good time
