What crazy things came from mapping your family tree?

I'm just curious if anyone out there has stories of recieving a big surprise while mapping a family tree. My story is pretty funny. I went to a fortune teller about a year ago who said she sensed that one of my ancestors was trying to contact me and help me with my work. I went to this fortune teller because I am a poet and my inspiration was lacking. I thought her answer was horrible, but I decided to look back at my geneology anyway. I ended up finding, to my surprise, that I'm related to Alfred Tennyson! Anyone else have any crazy stories?

  1. Nothing like that...My great-grandfather died at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War...I am descended from Charlemagne...One of my g-g-g (way back) grandmothers was burned at the stake as a witch...

  2. Wow, good for you ! Did it help with the inspiration ?

No telling who I'm related to except that I know Robert the Bruce of Scotland. My great-grandmother's married name was Wallace so I figured Braveheart was kin. Now, I'm a little disappointed because I've always had that radical nature.

I can say that mainly on my mother's side and somewhat on my father's side the relatives all had some psychic gift. Quite a bit of precognition. Now, as they die off it gets stronger in me. Nice sometimes, bad othertimes. I think, in your case - well, all of our cases that this sort of thing is in our DNA.

So write away my friend. That's fantastic for you.

  3. I found out that the president of my high school class is a distant cousin.  I was a cheerleader and he was captain of the football team.  We could have connected romantically.  Now that would have made a story!
