What crimes are likely to lead to checking for fingerprinting?

I.e, are fingerprints ever sought after in the event of petty theft? Are they usually sought after in burglaries, etc?

  1. It depends. I have taken prints on misdemeanor vandalisms before.  It has everything to do with how busy the city is.


  2. If you are booked, you're getting fingerprinted regardless, and maybe have a DNA sample taken, too.

  4. Murder. In my state, they don't even come out for burglaries any more.
