Question:

What cruise line has fewer kids on them?

My wife and I recently went on a Carnival cruise from NYC to Canada... and there were really tons of kids on board... We figured on a cruise to Canada there might be less kids... but, sadly... that was not the case. We are now interested in cruising to Mexico, but we'd like to find a cruise that has fewer kids on it. I am 46 and my wife is 35. We don't want it to be just old people or something like that... but maybe something inbetween... any ideas?

  1. Try Princess or Celebrity.  I have a friend who only goes on Celebrity for this reason.  I had another friend who  took a Princess cruise to Alaska, and she told me that there were only nine kids on the ship.,

  2. try princess or Noriwegn i cruised with princess a few years ago,

and it was older families ( with older kids not little ones)

    and couples

    hope this helps

  3. We went on carnival to mexico last week, and there were very few children on board, but I think it is because it is the last few weeks of school, so families don't want to pull their kids out of school. If I were you I would do research on when school is in session, because no matter what cruise line you choose, if you go during the summer break or any other time school is out, there will be a lot of kids. Also, I think if you try more expensive cruise lines, and stay away from those that market to families(like carnival and disney), you would have better luck.

  4. Princess would be your best bet. My wife and I (late 20's) just went on a Princess crusie to the Caribbean that had very few kids on it. The ones that were there mainly staied in the kids program and Princess has security guards that only watch out for kids that are no doing what they should or are not where they should be.

If you want to go to the West Coast of Mexico you are going to have to wait until Oct or go on Carnival because everyone else has moved up to Alaska for the summer.

  5. celebrity but thats really expensive some other ones are Norwegian or u can try some other small little ones

  6. I really think its more the time of year than the cruise line that matters.  My husband and I usually cruise in April or May, and there are not many children on board.  However a few years ago we went in July to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and boy oh boy we were in for a shock.  Tons, and tons of kids.  Try to stear clear of summer.

  7. it might be timing the carnival cruises we have been on have had almost no children the last one in September had less than a dozen kid and that included my 2.

It was very nice and the ones that were there I only saw when with my children at camp carnival events.

I suggest to look at time when the children are in school, and I have been told Princess has less children too, if that help, but it is still timing

  8. I found with Carnival Lines its the time of the year that is critical to cruise populations. 2005 Good Ol' Mom and I took the southern Caribbean out of Ft. Lousydale and found very few children because the Christmas break was over (Late January) and everyone was really laid back and enjoying themselves.

There were about 1900+ on board and the food was great!

  9. If you're talking about your standard cruise lines (NCL, Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, etc.), I would tell you that Holland America and Princess have the fewest kids on board.  They offer very little, if any, kids programs on the ship which is unattractive to families with small children.

  10. The trouble that you run in to is that the lines that attract fewer children and families also tend to attract an older clientel.

Also look at the time of year that your looking to go, I sailed on Vision of The Seas to Mexico at the end of October and there were less than 75 kids on board....  I was back onboard two weeks ago talking with the Cruise Director and he was telling me that on one sailing around Easter they had over 500 kids on board!  There's less of a chance for you to encounter many children onboard if you don't schedule your trip when many schools are on vacation.

Sailings longer than 7 days also tend to attract fewer families, however they also tend to attract older passengers.
