We have never gone on vacation with my 3 year old son and would love to go on a cruise. What cruise offers kid friendly activities while also being reasonable priced? Disney seems so expensive. We're looking at traveling the end of August 07 and it would be for 2 adults and 1 child for hopefully 5 nights. We live in Colorado but would fly to Florida, etc if we got a good deal on a cruise. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

  1. Carnival and they have great rates when you go out of Fla. We took our child when she was five and it was the best thing that we did. I feel sorry for that other person who told you to think of other people.  I'ts your family vacation and your child is in your family. I say go for it and have a GREAT time. They also have a childrens program which keeps the kids busy, a childrens pool, and a childrens menu. Perfect age for a cruise!

  2. i would say for a 3 yrs old... Disney Cruise...

CHeck here for info on disney cruise..

  3. the Norwegian Star is a great one, travels to each main Hawaiin Islands including a island Called fanning island wich isnt part of the USA,  Cruise has tons of Games to play including a floor devoted to kids.

  4. I just came back from the Disney Cruise Ship Magic.  They were more expensive but here are a couple of things that you might want to consider that they have over everyone else.

I went on a tour of the ship and the guide mentioned they had over 70 counselors to plan activities for children.  Most of Deck 5 Mid-Ship (Disney Quest) is to keep kids busy in addition to the character meetings, pools, day care, and other activity rooms.

That's not to say the other cruise lines have inadequate kids programs, but they are not as extensive as Disney.

  5. Carnival. I just went on a 5 night Carnival cruise. I flew to Florida and the cruise went to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. They have Camp Carnival for kids. I think they are reasonable priced.

  6. Check travelzoo for cheap travel / last minute deals on cruises. However, I agree with the person that said a 3-year old is too small. I worked on cruise ships for a while and they normally don't have kids under 7 years old even on a ship. If you truly want to take your son on a cruise, i would recommend going in a few years when he's older. You BOTH will enjoy it much more!

  7. The end of August is still in the high season for cruises.

Your child is really too young to enjoy a cruise except for a Disney cruise.  I suggest that you wait until the child is around 7 or 8 before taking him on a cruise.

The vacation should be a fun time for all.  Most cruise lines do not have a children's program for such young kids as 3.

Also, think of your fellow travellers.  There are many adults travelling by themselves without children.  They do not want a child whining around in the dining room or pooping in the swimming pool.
