What cruise lines offer the best deals? Or websites?

I'm planning on going on a cruise next year, and I wanted to do some research of prices. There would be 4 people going. No destination has been picked yet.

There is no true way to answer your question.  The cruise lines post rates and the rates change as the date gets closer to the date of departure.  There are many cruise lines and each has it's own strong and weak points.  If you haven't picked a destination there would be too many choices to look at.  Also there are multiple departure ports around the US and the world.

If you are not sure what you want talk to a travel agent.  Travel agents can often beat the rates available to the individual as they reserve space early at the best prices.

If you tell your travel agent the ages of people in your group and the type activities they enjoy, they can help you pick an appropriate itinerary and cruise line.

A word of caution, some travel agents quote a very low rate, but that is for an upper/lower bunk room which is smaller than other rooms and usually stuck in narrow spaces at the bottom of a ship.

Make sure that you are comparing equitable staterooms when you compare prices.  Many travel agent sites will not quote the 1A or upper/lower rooms as most people do not want them.  Also if you want all 4 people in the same room you will need a 4A or larger room.

Definately get a balcony cabin for a 7 night cruise, most 7 night ships are newer and the balconies usually are a great value.  I would book early.  A great site is www.bjsvactions.com - If you want to talk to someone ask for X 58436 - You always receive a BJ's gift card when you book with BJ's vacations, you can't beat that.

As far as price, the beast deals are always on Carnival and Norwegian.  Be very aware of the ship that you will sail on.  You get what you pay for and some of the older ships arent the best.

i would find a travel agent you think you can work with for your first cruise, so you can ask questions and get some assistance in booking.  I would take the insurance they talk about.  good luck.

I'm honestly not 100% able to answer this question but I could resist putting my 2 cents in.

Last year our family (36 of us total) went on a 7 day Caribbean Cruise with Carnival.  We had a great time and we were treated great!  The kids, ages 5-18, were very well entertained and of course the adults were too.  

Best advice...go  through a travel agent.  They can answer questions that you may have about destination and what you desire.

Have fun and don't over pack.  If you haven't started on your passport...start now.

You can find a great cruise for your group if you just shop around on the cruise line web sites.  The first rule in getting less expensive cruises is book early.  The second rule is go with the same cruise line multiple times because they do offer repeat customer discounts of $50 to $100 per person in a cabin.  The third rule is shop around for specials.  Some lines will offer specials on a date that does not usually sell out.  So don't lock yourself in to one particular week of the year; be flexible.  

If you have not cruised before and don't know the ropes it may be beneficial for you to use an agent; the agent does not charge a fee but is paid by the cruise line.  But, also, do some home work on cruise line, itineraries, and ships.  Use the cruise line web sites to look at what's being offered.  Try to have in mind some of  what you want to do when you talk to an agent.  If you feel comfortable doing it, you can do your own booking online, the price is the same and you can do everything you need right on the web sites.  The sites usually have cruises listed for this year and next. I booked my last two cruises completely online, including making payments and booking port tours.

Carnival is the fun ship, has lower priced cruises.  Carnival is the party cruise line that most young folks and first time cruisers take  (ages 20 to 35) who want to party, party, party.  If that’s what you are looking for then Carnival is the one for you.  Princess, Royal Caribbean, Holland America,  Celebrity, and Norwegian tend to have people who have cruised many times and are in the 40 and over age group; a more reserved crowd.  All of these cruise lines  may also have some kids but not many. However, on these lines there are activities just for kids of different ages and staff persons assigned to supervise them most of the day.

I agree with Nikki above.  We have booked 4 cruises with www.vacationstogo.com.  They have great deals and their agents are really helpful.  Their website had tons of information on it.
