I am trying to find a nice cruise for couples...

..so far so good right?.....but..

Are there any that are alcohol free? both of us do not drink and we don't want to spend extra money on something we arent going to use.

:-)

Thanks!

  1. I'd recommend a cruise around French Polynesia (Tahiti, etc).  There's no night life on the islands & restaurants are so expensive that a cruie becomes a very good value.

I've also been researching river cruises in Europe for an upcoming birthday celebration with my husband.  The smaller ships have only three decks and usually less than 200 people.  They are not mega-party boats, so they sould like they might be a nice option for the two of you.

  2. a cruise would be great for a honeymoon, visit lots of exotic

romantic places, world class food, etc.  I don't think there are

any that are alcohol free, but since you pay extra for alcoholic

drinks (they aren't included in the price) you will be saving

    money.

  3. I'm a young guy, but I've been traveling with my parents on cruises for years now, have been on 15 or 16 :) I hope I can help:

Since it's a couple, Royal Carribean is probably your best bet then. They are a high class and very enjoyable cruise. Excellent service, food, etc.

Other options and their cons would be:

Carnival - a party ship, very common with the younger crowd (like myself) who sometimes party too hardy. :)

Disney - more family orientated, i wouldn't suggest it if it is just the two of you.

Costa - not a great cruise line at all, I had fun, but I was just legal to drink then and therefore had an awesome time with people my age.

As for the alcohol, there's no alcohol-free cruises per-say (that I know of). Alcohol is NOT free on the ships (typically, perhaps a comp or a bottle of champagne if you tell them you're on your honeymoon), but all foods are. Last I checked, most cruises don't even offer free soft drinks such as coke.

Oops, I forgot to add. Theres many other cruise lines out there obviously, such as Norweigan, which seemed to be a little dated. I only limited my suggestions to the main ones, of which Royal Carribean (as stated) would definitely be my top suggestion. I'd say they're the high-echelon of cruise lines :)

    Congratulations on your marriage!

  4. It would have helped to know when you are planning to go on your honeymoon.  But here's some information for you.

The price of a cruise includes your cabin, all shows and other entertainment on ship, use of all of the ship's facilities (except you have to pay for getting your hair and nails done ,for massages and wraps and other spa treatments), use of the gym, pools and hot tubs, use of the clubs, bars and disco, all meals and snacks all day and night. There are places on ship where you can go to breakfast, lunch and dinner and midnight buffets and all of the food is free. There is generally a room service menu that you can order from 24/7 and that food is free (you should tip the delivery person a couple dollars). There are places where you can get something to eat 24/7.

Not include are soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. The ship will provide unlimited free coffee, tea, milk, juices, and drinks like lemonade and punch for free. BUT, you must pay for soft drinks (usually about $1.50) and all alcoholic beverages including beer and wine.  Your cruise fare WILL NOT include alcoholic beverages.  So you never have to worry about paying for something you do not want.

As to where to go; your options are immense.  I suggest that you consider a cruise on a Princess, Celebrity, or Royal Caribbean cruise ship.  I have been on ships of all three and all are great.  We did our honeymoon cruise to Alaska on Princess.  That is one option; the Alaska cruise season is May through Sept each year.  Alaska is a good cruise for someone who is leery of getting sea sick because it is through the "inside passage" which has less ocean motion.

ADDED: A cruise to the Mexican Rivera would also be good as it would include great port stops like Cabo St Lucus, Puerto Vallarta, and Acapulco.  I loved Cabo but the others were good also.

If you want to be on ships with fewer kids, do not go to the Caribbean or Bahamas and especially not during the summer/vacation season (nor on Disney).  Or go on a cruise that is more than 7 days, maybe 12 to 14 days; they typically have fewer kids.

All of the cruise lines have the same basic setup and format.  They all have a free show each evening for all passengers.  They have bars, lounges, and a disco for dancing.  They all have a gym so you can work out; many have multiple pools and hot tubs and some ships have adults only pools and hot tubs and areas (not nude places but just for adults only).

  5. Good luck on the alcohol-free environment that you are looking for.  Try an adventure cruise.  They might be alcohol-free because the extreme environment that you might be in.

Congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials,  Hope you have many years of happiness and beautiful healthy children.
