  1. The lip come sinto play at two points:

    One when Baba gets it operated. That shows Baba's concern for the boy.

    Second when Amir is beaten in Afghanistan, he too gets a harelip. Just like Hassan.

    **May be I have forgotten any deep rooted meaning.**
