The entire Native population was decimated. But people just like to forget that. I mean it was a long time ago.. sorta like the atrocities against the Jews during the war.

Seeing that they thought it was OK to cut the Indians throats and steal their land, women and resources. Then everything. They did the same thing in the Caribbean, and to the land Mexico had here in the US.

The native American peoples were defeated, but hardly "destroyed".  Our aboriginal people have been an important part of our modern history.  They've heroically fought for our country.  They've even used their culture to the benefit of the US....remember the Windtalkers?  Our aboriginal people have a strong history with the rest of the people of our country.

Of course, the Spanish were not quite so kind to the defeated people of South and Central Americas.

No one is alive today that had anything to do with the history of the 16th century.

Very few.  On the other hand, the Native Americans destroyed a huge number of cultures in their quests for power.  Native Americans tried hard to use the European Americans for their own purposes, and when the Europeans did not do it the way of the Native Americans, they declared war, and frequently killed a lot of people who were still allied with the Europeans, and the Europeans themselves.

The History of the People is an oral history.  We won't ever know exactly what happened, but if you looked, you discovered the early Oral Histories included wars between the tribes in dimension and depth that we think of the War between the Europeans and the individual tribes.  It requires a great deal of study to understand, and the simplestic statement.. The Native Americans of course, but it was not completely destroyed as evidence of today will prove that.

And some think history should repeat itself with a different race/nationality of people today. Very sad.

The Native Americans who practiced polygamy, spousal abuse, child abuse and stole everything they could, including land from other tribes, as well as all goods possible, women and children.

That no concept of property is a myth, as is that they were wise and noble and never did any wrong.
