  1. If someone can get into your computer there are a number of things they can do, they can place viruses onto your computer so it looks like you're sending massive amounts of spam, they can record all the information you have on it.  I knew a guy once who kept all of his credit card information, first, and last names along with social security numbers sitting on his hard drive, in a My Documents folder, and he had all of that information stolen from him.  

    They could brick your operating system, or make sure it doesn't work any more, there are plenty of things that any one can do with full access too it.

    The best course is to get information and remain as safe as possible, don't open strange emails, don't go to strange websites, ensure that you have anti-virus installed, get behind a router, make sure you have an okay firewall setup.

    Personally I have a Linux box running iptables in front of my entire network, to deny access to every thing, but this may be too advanced for some people to do.  However, setting up with firewalls, anti-virus, anti-spyware programs, should be enough to keep any unwanted guests out.  In other words just be careful.

    If this is from a forum or game and someone threatened you just ignore them they can't hack from the forum or the game if you didn't click on their links.
