so i was recently in a very small accident at 3km/h where i nudged someone else's car

But anyway, i'm just wondering what kind of damage was done to my car

there was a weird powdery substance that i could easily wipe off with my thumb so i just wiped it with a wet cloth to see what would happen

when it dried, some white scratches came back.

these scratches aren't visible from 5 meters away and they look like they may be under the paint or something

I have completely no background on cars or anything and im only in high school

so basically

what's going on with my bumper, how much would it cost to get it fixed professionally (if it needs to be) and is there anything i can do to fix it myself

  1. NEVER HEARD OF AIRBAGS ON BUMPERS,THATS ABOUT THE ONLY PLACE I'VE EVER SEEN A POWDERY SUBSTANCE B4. DIDN'T BY CHANCE BY YOUR CAR FROM A POLICE AUCTION?GET IT,,,,  POWDERY SUSTANCE//POLICE AUCTION..

  2. just buy a scratch removal pen from a car parts store. or wax.

  3. You don't say what kind of car you have but you're probably looking at the plastic part of the bumper through the scratches.  If this is the case then it's more of an aesthetic problem then a functional one.  I would still recommend a front end alignment just to be sure the car didn't get knocked out of alignment.
