When I was a kid we used to "square dance" and that was a lot of fun!!  But, I like all dances and miss the disco days!!

In NY it was the jitter bug, stroll, mashed potato, pony, twist and the swim. Later in PA where I finished high school we danced in lines and anyone could cut in (was actually fun!). Later still came the hustle, disco and the bump. A dance that's been around forever here in the coastal areas of the South is the shag. It's much like the jitterbug and it's done to "beach music", which is very distinct and timeless.

My mother did the Charleston - waltz - foxtrot, when she met my father in the late 20's.

I danced to the Jitterbug/swing - Samba - Tango - mambo - twist - limbo - polka - bunny hop, in the 50's and early 60's.

Missed out on the dancing the disco and new stuff for almost 30 years.

Did the Moccarina at the family party's.

Now, I think the electric slide is a big thing.

I go quite a ways back, but I lived and breathed to dance when I was young.

The Twist, The Stroll, The Peppermint Twist, Watusi, Monkey, Frug Mashed Potatoes, The Hokey Pokey and a bunch others thant hurt even then. Wished I could remember them all.

I preferred slow dancing, cheek to cheek, belt buckle polishing dancing. Still do but now something gets in the way of my buckle being polished. My belly.
