  1. Shouldn't be a problem at all!  I haven't done the base camp, but have done the Anapurna Circuit twice.  I think the base camp is a little less populated, but there's always a lot of other trekkers around.  You'll probably hook up and keep pace with a few people.  Just in case though, buy the altitude sickness drug in Kathmandu - if you need it further up you'll get slugged a fortune.  I'd also take some diarherra medication, iodine (for purifying the water) and some rehydration salts.  Those things are all "just in case" though.  You'll probably see a lot more people than you think on the way and they have regular check points so if you go missing it won't be for too long.  Don't stress too much about it - it's a thrilling experience, I'm soooooo jealous!!!

    Additional Info:

Don't let the other 2 people scare you - they obviously don't know what the Everest Base Camp is!  They must think you're going solo to the summit!

See - the biggest dangers are altitiude sickness, blisters and Maoists asking you to pay a super hefty US$1.40 fee along the way.  None of that would put me off!

Obviously check the political climate before you get on the plane, but you're not going to be scaling the side of an unchartered mountain.  You're walking along a "foot road" that links the villages in the mountains.  Enjoy your trip!!

  2. The dangers of beingbankrupt. It is so expensive to prepare to climb that little hill that you better be ready to either work hard, or at the least empty out the savings account. Just the equiptment you are gonna need is going to run you a hefty price.

    Have fun

  3. Freezing, hypothermia, frostbite, falling, gettiing lost in a storm. Even to get to base camp I believe you climb partially up the mountain.  Many dangers and I would not reccommend going alone.
