  2. Aren't there any schoolbuses?  Why can't you take her to school?  Why would you want a stranger to take your child to school?

  3. please talk to your school they might have some sort of resource.  Also, what about the school bus?

  4. You could try craigslist but make you sure you really screen whoever does it. If the person doesn't have a child enrolled in that school that will also be getting a ride every morning do a full criminal background check for all 50 states. I know it costs a bit of money but better safe than sorry.

  5. See if your local radio or TV station has free online classifieds and place an ad there. Print up a flyer and put it up at the grocery store, community center, coffee house, whatever that is near the school. See if someone who does home daycare near your house will take her to school for a nominal fee.

If you can get by with yourself or someone on a temporary basis for the first week or so of school perhaps you can put an ad in the school or class newsletter and a notice on the bulletin board at school.

If you do get some responses, do make time to meet with them personally and ask for references -- just someone either from the school or that would be reliable who knows them that you can call and make sure they are on the up and up.

I wish there was a better way to network with other parents and have informal clothing and backpack exchanges, trade food from gardens, etc., find someone for occasional before/after school care, and even new family friends to all do fun things with. In our cul-de-sac society we all get so isolated and think we have to solve everything ourselves.

  6. I'd stay away from craigslist if you are looking for someone to take your child to school. I wouldn't feel safe at all with that!

How about contacting your daughter's school. Maybe they know some mom's who carpool or do something like that. Or a bus that she could ride. I would think the school would help out.

Ask around your neighborhood . . . I'm sure other kids go to your daughter's school and there may a mom who would be happy to let your daughter ride along.
