Let me get this straight. On Monday night I watch for the shower. In the wee hours of Tuesday morning it will reach it's peak. Is that correct? Or is is Tuesday into Wednesday?

  1. We are likely getting "previews" of the Perseid meteor shower starting about now, but it peaks the night of August 12th.  It is a half moon now, however, and is getting bigger.  It will set later and later as it gets closer to August 12th.  It is best to wait until it does set, so that the glare doesn't obscure the view.  If you want several hours of viewing time, it might be better to camp out after moon-set prior to august 12th, even though the frequency of meteors will be lower.  They will be easier to see with the moon out of the way, though.

  2. it starts at about 11pm on Monday night until the early mornings of Tuesday. so you were right the first time =)

  3. It lasts for a month every single year.  It is when the earth passes through the Perseids meteor field every August.  The best night to view the meteors would be August 12th.  Have fun!
