What day did Dale Jr. become your favorite driver

Can't remember the exact day but it was back in 2000 when I was watching a Busch race on tv with my dad and he won. Loved him ever since!

I would have to say the first Busch race he was in 1996.  It was in SC and i think he finished in the top 15.

The day he won at Texas...his first Cup race WIN.  Although I knew of him in the Busch Series...but I had really just started watching Nascar around that time, so I didn't know anything else besides the name.

So to debunk your theory, at least for me, was not Feb. 18, 2001.  Earnhardt fans (Sr and/or JR) are loyal and don't jump on the "winning" bandwagon...see Kyle Busch fans.

Not my first favorite, but he is up there on my list. I started liking him after a restrictor plate race in 2003. He is one of the best ones at the superspeedways like Dega and Daytona, and fun to watch. And yes, my answer would have to be beyond 2001, because I did not start watching NASCAR until 2002.

Yep, that explains it. Jimmie and Newman were both rookie drivers that year. I wanted to go with an up and coming driver since I didn't know much history with the established drivers at that time. I had a hard time deciding between those two, but went with Jimmie when he did not win rookie of the year.

i remember back when he was driving in the ac-delco #3 busch series car and he won a race at i think it was bristol and ever since i loved him. Everybody else started liking him the day dale sr. died

the day he came from three laps down at bristol to win, with a final lap full of beatin' and bangin' and a bump-and-run pass off the final turn that sent rowdy spinning backwards across the finish line in second. in victory lane he hopped out and exclaimed, "i finally beat the arrogant little b*****d - and i'm glad to see that all my fans flashing the old 'you're number one' sign during MY victory lap were using the correct finger."
