It depends upon the type of business you are doing. For example for traders day start at 10 AM; for retailers day starts at 11 AM whereas for a manufacturing unit day starts at 8 AM. So there is no clear cut or general answer for same. But I shall like to say that there are a few qualities which one has to adhere with:

1. To be punctual,

2. to be well in touch of your segment,

3. to keep an vigilant eye on your subordinates and competitors,

4. to be honest,

5. to keep your words,

6.  and the last but not the least - one should have quality to delegate and give weight-age to your employees.

You must have a calendar (only one calendar), check it regularly, keep it up to date.  Otherwise stuff gets forgotten.

You must have a way of keeping track of clients and your contacts with them.  Use this tool throughout your day.  Do not make notes on little scraps of paper.

You must have a way of keeping track of expenses and income.  Like a calendar, there must be only one system, and you must use it each time there's a transaction.

Other routine stuff:

Get a regular night's sleep and rise at the same time.

Take meals at regular times as much as possible.

When you turn off the lights and lock the door, go home and be at home.  Don't carry business home or home to work.
