Is it 1960s? 1970s? What would you call the moves 28 seconds into the video -- a shimmy?

  1. The movie is set in the early 60's when girl band had become popular like the Ronettes, Shangrila, The Supreme, and so on...

The dance started with the Shimmy, followed by the Hand Jive, and their own dance creation...

  2. 1920's

  3. there are a few dances that I recognize. The shimmy is in there.

The jerk. My guess it is supposed to be in the early 60s.

Sorry I can't tell you more

  4. They are TRYING to be the Sixties, but this has to be a present-day attempt to recreate that era. The music sounds closer to The Go-Gos than any of the girl groups of the Sixties. The dancing also is rather a mishmosh and isn't accurate. Even the clothing doesn't look quite right.

I very much doubt that this is a clip from a Sixties film or TV show. I think there were a couple of BBC TV series about that time period.

You'd have to check out films from that era to see how people really danced and sang. This isn't a good imitation. I know because I was there! I was a Sixties teen.
