  1. He means entry level!!! To be a teacher, fireman, police is NOT entry level people!

You can try customer service, especially working for a cable company or telephone company with high levels of yearly profits.

My friend trained for 3 weeks to be a NY Time Warner Cable representative at a wage of $12 dollars an hour entry level. Good luck.

  2. Recession proof?  Debt collection.  Repossession.  911 operator.

Not what you had in mind?

How about non-profit work?  It's a huge percentage of the economy and steadily growing.  In a recession, the needy will increase and the wealthy will need more tax breaks.

  3. I think anything in the environmental field will be a long term investment in your career and will be among the jobs of the future.

Also, law enforcement, fire department, health workers, teachers....all of these are in short supply and high demand.  But also, an awful lot of commitment to enter these fields!   :)
