My daughter will be attending Schiller in the fall of '07 for the next two years and I don't know where she will be living yet to book somewhere close to her.

  1. Heidelberg is a quaint older city.  Unlike the US, the public transportation is rather easy to negotiate and manage as a tourist. Plus, I felt safe there.

If you google Heidelberg it is a tourist city and many recommendations should pop up. The Golden Rose I hear is very nice and in the heart of downtown. The IBIS is near the trainstation. I liked it because the location was convenient, breakfast is included, its clean and quite nice.  If you're not so great with the Germany language, the Hotel Rose is a popular site for the US families that are in transient with the military.  It's not downtown but off the strasse line.  -Be prepared for smaller rooms!

It's just a little info, maybe the school has a recommendation. Good luck and Enjoy!

  2. Here are more homepages, but Heidelberg is a small beautiful city, one can walk everywhere without problems, include in the night.  It is a good middle point between a town and a city.

Loke an example of a hotel near the university (all of the hotels with post code 69117 are in the same area):

But if you want something very nice, just crossing the river (you have at least to go to eat there, just delicious!!!):
