My father, who was a hand-to-hand combat specialist, taught me self-defence tactics when I was quite young. When I was eleven, two older boys (fifteen) were following me as I walked through a wooded area near where I lived. One was whistling at me and making rude and stupid comments, the other was telling his friend to leave me alone. I finally tired of the rude boy, so I turned around and told him to leave me alone. When he responded with a suggestive leer, I hit him squarely in the nose with my open palm, as I had been taught. He crumpled to the ground. I stood rooted to the ground, filled with horror and shock while the other boy ran for help. The boy I hit spent quite some time in the hospital with a badly broken nose. Neither boy ever told anyone that I did it, and neither did I. I, shocked by the realization that I had the capacity to seriously injure another human, avoided all conflict from that day on.

I use either duct tape or hot glue to fix things, hold my bra straps inside securely when wearing strappy dresses or shirts and inside button down blouses to keep the front from gaping open.  I have hot glue holding together my favorite glam sandals right now...
