  2. find a used Remington in a .270 or a 30-06. Just my preference and in my opinion the 2 best rounds made.

  3. .243 or 6mm is all you are going to need.

  4. I say a .270, very accurate plenty power and not bad on recoil

  5. I just love my Browning BLR in .270 Sweeeeeeeeeeet as.For that money u need to look at a  used model.

  6. You have numerous options that you will have to choose from.  You're going to get a lot of different answers, but the following calibers will probably come up: .243, .270, .30-06, .300 Mag, 7mm, .30-30.  All are good calibers.  The .30-06 is your best all around cartridge with dozens of over-the-counter ammo to choose from.  The .270 is a necked down .30-06 and is a very flat shooting round.  All will kill deer at 250+ yards.

My personal favorite is the .25-06, which is a .30-06 bullet necked down to hold a 25 caliber bullet.  It has very little recoil, is very flat shooting, and I have never had a deer run when hit by one.  I have killed about a dozen deer with that round.  I also shot a coyote and fox.  It dropped them all in their tracks.  The only drawback is the limited ammo selection and I feel it is not big enough for bears, elk, noose, etc...

Whatever your choice, you will get the job done.  Good luck.

  7. A Mossberg 100-ATR chambered in .270 would be a good choice. The scope is included and its about $350 to $375 at most gun counters. Walmart (the ones with a gun counter) regularly have these in stock....

  8. The best choice for your purpose is the tried, true, tested, and proven since 1906 the 30-06, because you have a greater variety of bullet weights to choose from to harvest any Big Game in North America cleanly and efficiently.* If you want to save even more $$$ buy a good used 30-06 rifle.* A new rifle doesn't shoot any better than a good used one.*~

  9. i have a 7mm-08.  it will do anything a 270 will with lower recoil and greater accuracy potential... love it.  shoots great.  for your price range, check a stevens 200, the mossberg ATR or a HR handirifle.

  10. g'day mate i use a 308 savage leaver action and a 270 win bolt action and they haven't failed me yet,250 yards you don't need any bigger any bigger is over kill. But put  really good scope on it i have burris on mine and they kick ***.cheers mate

  11. i like the 6.5x55 the best, the 140 gr bullet seems to retain more energy down range then most other rifles.deer are not as hard to kill as people seem to make out. i have killed them with the 22-250 and the 32-20. so i would look at pawn shops or small gun shops to see about a center fire rifle(atleast 243 and up) scope and atleast 3 boxes of shell you can get for your 350 use 2 of the boxes for practice and save the other for the hunt.

  12. I had a Remington ADL in .270 Win years ago. Bought it used for $250. I shot it pretty well with just the iron sights. Great rifle for the money.
