What defines a 'man'?

This is for a social gender debate-

Basically how does our culture view a man? Please name which culture you are referring to

I live in Russia-here and the culture that is not present.. Except for that, that has remained since times of grandfathers and grandmothers. Our culture defines the person-as speaking, going and вродебы even a thinking (!) essence =))

A male that makes a woman enjoy being a woman.  Southern USA.  I moved away from the south for a while, upon returning a man opened a door for me.  I said, "thank you" and he relied, in a slow southern draw, "it's my pleasure ma'am."  I thought, yes, I'm home.

That's a very, very broad question and so therefore very difficult to answer.  It all depends on the social, political, economic roles that a man is expected to carry out in a particular culture.  But it also depends on how many genders a culture recognises.  Don't forget not all cultures recognise only two genders.

I think in every culture a man is defined as: A person who does not possess a female reproductive system, and who also does not think he is from the opposing s*x (g*y or l***o).

definitely not what a women says. a woman's definition of a man changes to suit her needs, so she will often say something different.

a man is a man who can stand on his own two feet and support himself. anything more is just an attempt to exploit the male.

His heterosexuality,  first and foremost. Next would be his ability to say no, he could never ever be a drug addict or an alcoholic, unless, that is, if he wanted to be one. In today's word, he would provide for his family and his elderly parents if need be. He would also be a good friend , neighbour, & citizen.
