  1. You need a Bachelor's Degree (4 yrs of college) and a teaching credential for multiple subjects (Grades K-6).

  2. Depends where you live.  I'm in Ca., so not only did I need my Bachelors degree, but I need to continue on to the credential program to earn my multiple subject teaching credential (I'm able to teach K-8)

Certain states don't require "Grad school"...so to speak.

  3. Bachelor of Arts in Education, and no, its not called the 3rd degree.

  4. Each state will have its own certification requirements, but typically your major in college will be Elementary Education.  If you have a college degree in another area, you will still have to get your education classes in; think of it as a double major.  Your college will also make sure you have met your state requirements to teach; be aware you'll probably have to take some tests and score high enough to become certified.  Also, many newcomers to our field think that once you get your degree you are finished: no way.  It's called Continuing Education; and each state is different, but you'll have to take classes, attend seminars, complete projects, etc. to meet the demands of the State to continue your certification.
