Question:

What degree of rain will a 'showerproof' tent withstand?

I just bought a tent (on a tight student budget). On the instructions it states:

Please note this unit is Shower Proof and not waterproof.

Should I be concerned? I will be using the tent recreationally for a hockey tour (this weekend at East Grinstead, Near London, UK) where I will be at a low altitude, with hopefully little wind. However there might very well be 'showers'.

I think I possibly used a similar one this year which was fine although the inner tent was wet to the touch after heavy rain. Sound about right? Any advice?

  1. "Shower Proof and not waterproof."  It'll be fine in the rain but you can't use it as a submarine.  That's about what that means. The water will drip off it, but if you drench it, the water will soak through
