  1. Pure Mathematics / Computer science


  2. A degree or equivalent experience in mathematics is a must.  The more popular public key ciphers are based on Number Theory topics (Euler's Phi Function for one).  Quantum encryption is the research area of interest these days.  QE is UNBREAKABLE! :)
