What degrees do i need to get a job in auto design?

Question

I'm going to college in a few years from now i have good grades. I know a thing or 2 about auto repair and general knowledge about cars. Don't laugh but being a designer for a car company would be the coolest job ever!!!

I want mainly focus on how cool parts would looks but also know how it would function.

The bottom line, what degrees do i need?

My sister is an mechanical engineer and she worked for Ford designing fans but really ended up hating it.

Major in engineering but becoming a auto designer is extremely hard.

I interviewed a man that went to Kent and he d**n near has been trying all of his life to become one and it has yet to happen (he was like 55 then and very well accomplished). He (I can't remember his name) is a wonderful PMP in Arkansas and he even helped design something on parking meters. I would do research, research, research on it before I got into it.
