What details need to be taken into account when fitting an AC adapter to a device?

The device asks for "DC IN 12V 1A."

Can I plug any AC adapter that reads "Output: 12V 1A" into this device?

I would love to see a link to some site which verifies your answer so I don't fry my electronics. :)

  1. You need to be concerned with polarity (tip positive or tip negative), and make sure it's 12v DC 1A(or more) output, but other than that, you should be ok

  2. It has to output 12v DC (the DC is important - NOT AC)

As long as it outputs 1A or MORE, any adapter is OK

    Ex

    12V DC, 2A - OK

    12V AC , 1A - NOT OK
