  1. How much other news there is that day and how much interest the editor thinks the public might have in a story.

  2. the editor

  3. Usually the editors

  4. First of all the editor (but he/she needs to discuss this with the layout team as well). Secondly, the amount of advertising in a publication effects the amount of stories and the length of each story. It also depends what type of story it is. Is it a news feature (500 - 800 words), an opinion piece (about 700 words), a hard news story (300 - 500 words) or a review (100 - 250 words)?

  5. The editor.

  6. How many other stories they have for the day, they need to fill in a lot of space with a lot of blabber.

a whole newspaper has maybe 30 sentences of facts the rest is he said she said this that and the other in my oppinion

  7. Many different things are taken into account with length and space. First the relevance and importance of the story will determine the page the story is printed on. If it is placed on the front page the story may be cut in half  and the latter half of the story will be placed on a later page. This allows more important news to be introduced and will draw readers into the other pages. Now with that being said, the length of a story de[ends on the type of story it is. A feature will be alot longer than a typical news story, but will be placed all together usually with shorter stories that are relevant. Overall, an editor will make decisions as to whether or not a story will be cut. Too much space or not enough will inevitable determine this.

  8. the size of a newspaper lol and how many stories there are
