  1. you don't have to hit the high notes to be a good singer..you need to sing the tones correctly  and not run out of breath

  2. I believe a person's ability to carry a tune if the first thing that will determine if a person does or does not sing "well."  Vocal quality is the second thing....if the voice is not "pleasing" to listen to, correct melody doesn't really matter.  Finally, placing emotion and feeling to their voice will make or break a good singer.  Audiences want the entire package....all three criteria must be in place.

  3. the techniques used in singing.i think the way the person breathes(from the diaphragm), where he breathes, his tone quality, whether he can keep in tune throughout the whole song or not, his consistency for all performances, n his dynamics. i think these are quite important for a person to sing well. :D

  4. The ability to sing depends on having a good timing, and a good ear to sing on key. The tone of the voice just adds sweetness or hashness to the tone...like Celine Dion ompared to Nickleback.

  5. whether they can keep a note, the range of notes, and their style.  like even though jessica simpson has a good voice, the WAY she sings sucks.

record yourself singing in the shower (that's where most people sound best) and play it back for people you know will be honest.  and don't try songs out of your range.
