What determines the color of eyes a person will have when he's born?

My eyes are black. Why not blue or green? What causes the eye colors to be different?

it depends....completely upon ur mom n dad..eyes colour..

if they have blue...then u ll hav blue...or sumthin lyk tat..

either it comes frm ur dad or frm ur mom..

black eyes are believed to be the dominate gene. if you have a black eye and end up with blue or green eye offspring, this may means that some of your or spouse's parents and ancestors have had blue or green eyes.

In modern days, it could be genetic manipulations, science can do that these days.

It's genetics.

The dominant genes would usually cause a person's eyes to be brown or a dark variation.

Blue is a recessive.  Green is usually a blending of genetic eye colors.

Your genes decided what colour you'll eyes have. And hence if both of your parents have brown eyes, you'll also have brown eyes. But if one of your parent has blue eyes, say for eg. your mother and your father has brown eyes, then there is a good chance you'll end up getting brown eyes because the gene for brown eyes is dominant over blue eyes. It's all genetics, my friend!!

Pigment in the front layer of the iris (called the stroma) colors the iris. Eye color lightens when pigment granules drop in number, or when the granules make a lighter color. The iris can also lose color if the pigment degrades. So colours of the eyes come by pigments present in IRISH which having brown coloured pigments, and on the distribution of pigments ( like denser, or scattered ) colour of eye comes.

it depends on the genes of ur family tree. max. indians have genes for black colour. had u got genes for blue color from both of ur parents, ur eyes would be blue.
