  1. A hurricane's track is essentially determined by the wind flow in the mid and upper atmosphere.  This wind flow is in turn governed by the strength and position of pressure systems.  As these pressure systems change in strength and size, the wind flow is altered.  This is why it is hard to determine exactly where a tropical system will go, well in advance.

  2. Warm and cold waters ahead of the hurricane,Land mass(which sometimes offers friction and deflects it) ahead of it and winds at upper levels combindly determine the path.

  3. Yes and the wind pressure.
