What determines what country win the olympics?

Does bronze,silver and gold have different point value or is it the most gold medals?

It is based on the individual performance of each athlete that is in that particular event. Each event is judged seperately by different judges. Gold is the highest, first place, silver, second and bronze third. A great deal of polotics is involved in the games,but a lot of the athelets just wont to compete, without all the polotical bull. That is impossible in our screwed up world today.

Bla...bla...bla...its determined by overall medal count and there is a winner this year like every other. You'll need to accept the fact that china now dominates everything that doesn't involve doping, those events go to the US...

i believe it is the total medal count.  although most gold medals is something to brag about too. this website might help. its shows all the medals and the rank each country is in.

What the h**l is with you folks from down-under and all the American-hating?

Is it envy because Ian Thorpe let his mouth write a check that his *** couldn't cash by making disparaging remarks about Phelps, which motivated Phelps to surpass your god's, Ian Thorpe, efforts and make them actually seem pathetic?

Is it because you envy us the talent that we show in a game (basketball) that we invented and the world (including Australia) has embraced?

Is it that the size of the team that we send (because we have enough talent to qualify in all of these events) exceeds the one you send and it makes you envious?

Do us a favor. Shovel your petty tripe somewhere else.

Nothing. There is no country to "win the Olympics".

Medal tallies do not serve that purpose. Its an exercise in National Pride, and that is all.

No country wins the olympics.  But the country with the most medals usually brags their *** off though.  The only thing that really matters are the individual events.
