What determines why a single person with no dependents gets $300 or $600 for stimulus payment?

Some of my friends are getting $300 and some others $600 and we don't know why the difference.

  1. How much money they made that was taxable.


  2. Everyone who paid taxes gets $600 unless they paid less than that in taxes.  If they paid less than $600 they get what they paid.
