  1. It is easiest to understand German there.  They speak hochdeutsch, or the normal german that you would learn in a class here.  Its when you head south that you run into different accents that would be hard to understand.

  2. They speak 'Berlinerisch' ...but you will year all kind of German dialects and all kind of languages there ...especially Turkish, Polish, Russian but also English...people from over 100 countries/nations are living in Berlin and people from all parts of Germany!

  3. Berlinerisch. The Brandenburg dialect varies a bit from that spoken in Berlin, but not much. You'll find that they often replace the s from standard German with a t, or the German ch sound with a ck ("ich" - "I" - becomes "ick" or "icke"; "das" - "that" - becomes "dit" or "dette"). -- Besides, as people from all around Germany live and work in Berlin, standard German is also widely used.

    edit:

btw, you could also say "Preussisch" ("Prussian"), that's how many southerners call the Berlin dialect; but they really don't like that word in Berlin...
