I wanted to switch my daughter to cloth diapers, but now Im not so sure thats a good idea. I want to know....what are disposable diapers made of as far as the part that touches their skin. And since my daughter has eczema, is it a bad idea to use cloth diapers made of polyester inside on her since I read that polyester is irritating? Any mothers of babies with eczema use cloth diapers? Any experience in this area? THANKS!

  1. i used cloth on my daughter but get 100% cotton or try luvs diapers and for the cloth ones don't forget the plastic cover-ups. luvs worked on my daughter who had eczema badly

  2. If your child has eczema in the diaper area this is know as diaper dermatitis, and there is no one concrete solution to this. Because eczema is chronic and only with time will go away. What you can do to alleviate and better that area, is twice/day leave your child without any diaper or coverage on the area(so that the skin may breathe). As well as stop using wipes to clean the area, instead use water to clean the diaper area whenever you need to change the diaper. My child is 18 months old and he has diaper dermatitis as well as eczema all over the rest of his body. Hope this helps

  3. I had this issue with my daughter.  I don't know what is in disposable diapers, but I tried the organic ones, made by Seventh Generation, and while she still had some eczema, it improved GREATLY by the switch.  I also got a prescription hydrocortizone cream from my pediatrician that helped as well.

    Good luck!!

  4. We used pampers. Have you washed cloth diapers in a free clear detergent? My kids were even prone to eczema with dreft. I too was given a hydrocortizone cream. It worked.

  5. My son had really bad eczema and the only brand that I found that did not cause him to break out really bad was pampers.  I think that you just have to do trial and error to find out what works best for your daughter.

  6. My daughter has eczema and she could only use pampers, and now we have to use the huggies in the pull ups. I never used them. You need to ask her doctor to give her some cream. The stuff I have to put on my daughter really keeps in it down.

  7. my son has VERY BAD eczema and i have to switch him between diapers all the time.....one week pampers willl be good then the next day his eczema came back go to huggies...i tried the cloth and  it was ten times worse then the disposable diapers....

  8. Pampers seemed to work the best for both my kids with eczema.  I didn't like the luvs or huggies and especially not the wal-mart Parents choice.  If you want to do cloth, it needs to be 100% cotton on the inside and you need to change it right away if he/she wets.  Good Luck!
