  1. Just to respond to "SLAAP ME":

Firstly, Morals being dictated by personal opinion only assumes personal infallibility since it says whatever we make right is always right. Now, if you say we can be wrong in what we opine to be moral, then we have missed the mark of some standard we haven't created. But, people are not infallible in their opinions.

Secondly, making morals based upon culture and opinion only gets you into trouble. Either we have an idea of what's good before be opine about it or we don't. If we do, then where did this idea come from? If we don't then we couldn't be sure whether what designated to be good was. Again, before we choose things to be good we must have an idea of good. But, did you choose this idea of goodness? If so, doesn't that assume you understand something about goodness prior to any opinion?

Thirdly, making morals a matter of personal opinion means you have no reason as to why you choose "x" over "y". Why choose this over that?

Fourthly, just because people believe morals are a matter of cultural difference doesn't mean that's the way it ought to be. People beat their wives, but it doesn't mean because this happens that's the way it ought to be.

Fifthly, many indigenous tribes still believe the world is flat. But, more advanced cultures say it is round. From the fact that there is differences between the two should we conclude that the shape of the world is only a matter of opinion?

This was out respect. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings or make you mad or anything. I think you should know your idea suffers a lot of problems!

  2. being moral correct mean you are clever to be a person,to be like by others, but this never bring you to heaven,it might bring you to die if you refuse to received God love.Dying is not good or bad,in God time.the one who give life to us is God,the one who collect your life also should be God,dying is nothing if you have Jesus, but dying for your own will is sin.a bad dying mean you don't know Jesus yet, that not Good in Jesus will.

  3. I think that being "morally correct" differs from person to person. For some, everything is considered moral until everyone is practically naked. For others, something as pure as Sesame Street maybe not be considered moral. It all depends on the type of person they are and their beliefs. I also believe (no pun intended) that it depends on the person's background and what type of family environment they were raised in.

As for dying, I think dying is a form of the unknown. Not knowing something is truly a fear in the world. Most people want to know their future, yet not know. Death is a complex thing. It it also (sometimes) something that an individual cannot control. Old age takes thousands of lives each year. In that way, it is something someone cannot really control. Sure, they can exercise and eat healthy, but do they really know the exact day and time of their death?

  4. its the opposite of life which is good. Morals usually come from religion, which is why i find it weird that we consider dying to be so bad cause in religion it means you go to heaven (if ur good).

Basically its just human nature to want to stay alive and when someone dies its just scary because we don't truly know where we go after death.

  5. morals are dictated by society and the individual.  They are completely subjective.

    Dying isn't "bad"

  6. It is dictated by personal opinion which is often influenced by culture. There is not one universal standard of goodness.

(If there was a universal truth it would be one set of right and wrong things. Yet some people see things as right while others see them as wrong.)

Dying is bad because no one knows whats after it and as far as we know, you'll never see anyone or be able to do anything ever again (For most people that's not a good thing).

    Edit:

Ok this is what i was trying to say, society in general defines what is or is not “acceptable”. Most people respond to these “rules”, as they do not wish to be disliked by their communities… For example humans have evolved a tendency to protect or not harm a cowering victim or helpless person. (This includes animals), Or an aversion to kill in general but especially people who are most like us, such as other humans. I.e. Members of our own species. And by many, this would be seen as an aspect of conscience even though its just a naturally evolved concept.

On the other hand, people who have grown up in cultures with bad values NEVER feel guilty for doing what their culture says is right!

....there is a famous example of the lynching of a black man in America, where whole (white) families turned out to see the event. People had their pictures taken with the body, and had a great time, with no evidence they felt guilt.

(of course a few probably did, but the vast majority did not seem to.)

YOUR CONSCIENCE TELLS YOU WHAT IS RIGHT/WRONG BASED ON HOW YOUR BEHAVIOURS ADHERE TO THE VALUES OF YOUR CULTURE, NOT A UNIVERSAL, OBJECTIVE STANDARD OF GOODNESS.

There are murderers and rapists who seem to follow no morals or guidelines. If someone doesn't think its wrong to steal, they wont have any guilt when doing so. If morals were universally the same, how is this possible?

    to the guy below me:

i have no clue what your first and second paragraphs were talking about, im only 15. sorry lol

"Thirdly," choosing something over something else has nothing to do with morals.

"Fourthly,"  just because people believe morals are a matter of cultural difference doesn't mean that's the way it ought to be. i agree. It's not the way it should be, but thats the way IT IS.

"Fifthly," Truth is not a matter of personal opinion, no. I was only talking about morals. The shape of the earth is either one way or another, not both. Thats different.
