well, nobody asked anwar to swear on Quran by law.

If he swear on the Quran,, will he be proven immediately not guilty by law? Totally absurd. In that case murderers,, rapist,, etc can swear on Quran and escape from the law.

On Saiful's side,, the whole sodomy thing is neatly planned,, and they are determined to bring anwar down,, If he is willing to admit that he is sodomised,, how long would it take for him to swear on Quran? Creating the fake issue(fitnah) is a sin,, fake swear on a Quran is also sin,, it makes no difference for the culprits.  

If they want to bring down Anwar,, they would do anything,, including playing with God.

Personally I think, they have to separate RELIGION and POLITICS.

One can lie infront of the Quran and get away with it. If SWEARING IN FRONT OF A HOLY BOOK can get away with everything, there won't be a jail.

Anwar is probably smart enough and lazy to bother all these tactics used by saiful.

Imagine:

Choice one: Swear lies infront of the book, then do other things to menebus dosa.

Choice two: Tell the truth and go to jail.

Which one u choose?

Saiful is a young man, and gullible and probably not religious and weak in his faith...he was probably paid to do it....say, what if the carrot dangling before him is RM100,000,000 ?  Or he may have been offered a ministerial post ?  After Saiful has served their purpose,  they can easily get rid of him...like what is done in the movies... Well, to be fair, is Saiful being forced and intimidated and being told what to say  ? Afterall, he worked for Anwar and was in the perfect situation to be blackmailed...

Anwar knows it is purposeless and useless to do so...the opposition can come up with any evidence and reason to convience the public of  his supposed guilt...

this in not my opinion, in islam some can swear in front quran when there are no other way to show that u innocent. so, if anwar not entering court, investigation not complete, the witnesses are enough... why should he swearing in front quran. if someone don't understanding islamic law, they will say ...anwar affraid.

by the way... pls compare the knowledge of islam between these two character.

politikus action..4 me it happen when somone really deserve to safe their interest, they are not shame and felt faulty to misuse religion as their preventive and control action..

it is general and not to these people only(Anwar/Saiful)..Majority people misuse it.

DS Anwar refused to take an oath as it is not relevant to the case at hand.   Besides,He had already taken an oath in 1998's case to prove he was not guilty as charged but it didn't make any difference..What has been decided by our next PM recently, was a great one, put a stop to the past terrible history to repeat itself.

Saiful might be willing but it doesn't mean that Anwar got to do the same.
