  1. australians did nothing for him. it what he did to us australians! he gave a bad name by conspiring with the terrorest that why the australia have a problem with him.

  2. In fact  David Hicks has not been tried, let alone found guilty of terrorism offences in Australia. I think myself he was a stupid young man, who got caught up in something that he tried to bail out of, but on the way he was turned in for money, as many innocent westerners were, and once the USA got hold of him they refused to give him any kind of fair hearing. that was has roused many to support him - not a feeling that he was innocent, maybe, I don't know about that, but a feeling that his treatment was immoral and against the rule of law. In the end he plea-bargained his way back here, has spent some time in jail and is now on restricted conditons of parole.

  3. The government let him languish in Guantanamo without a trial for 5 yrs and tried to ignore him until PM Howard thought he would become an election hot potato and then got him home quick smart.

So much for innocent until proven guilty.
