I know he was a hero but on what scale? A member of the 94 world cup winning team(i cant remember who) said that Pele was a hero in brazil but Senna was something else, something more than that to the brazilian people.

  1. Ayron Senna was definitely a Brazilian Hero.  He began winning in F1 against all odds in a weak car and was only able to win in the rain.  This allowed the disadvantage he had in the car be minimized and what actually counted was his superior driving skills.  I suppose that he was more popular than Pele for two reasons.

First, he died in his sport which always increases the love of people (Like Princes Dianna) and secondly since he died while he was still active in his sport/career he did not have the opportunity to mess up the image people had of him like Pele has done by saying stupid things while in retirement (like President Clinton)

  2. Ayrton Senna da Silva (pronounced [aˈiɾtõ ˈsenɐ dɐ ˈsiwvɐ] (help·info), March 21, 1960 – May 1, 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver and triple Formula One world champion. He remains the last Grand Prix driver killed while driving a Formula One car.

During his Grand Prix racing career, Senna became an international sporting superstar and was often compared to Juan Manuel Fangio, the driver most fans and critics[who?] refer as the best of all time. His wet weather driving skills were often showcased during his ten years in the sport, most notably in his near victory during the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix despite an inferior car, his dominant first victory in the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix and his acclaimed 1993 European Grand Prix. He was recognized for his qualifying speed over one lap, as shown by his 65 pole positions in 162 races. His record six victories in the Monaco Grand Prix, the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix win, and the 1988 Japanese Grand Prix win that earned him his first Drivers' title are some examples of his finest performances.

  3. Hi! I'm a Brazilian girl and I think that we feel this love for him because he was the best pilot in the world history. Besides, he was always worried about poor children and wanted to do something for them, but died before he could do it. Because of this his family has created Ayrton Senna Institute, which cares about poor Brazilian children.
